Sandra Potter, Managing Director of Frontier Travel, specialist in holidays to Canada explains the draw the country has on her and why so many people want to make that visit of a lifetime to the country.
‘30 odd years ago I lived in Vancouver, it was and remains a beautiful and vibrant city and one which I love to re-visit. The Canadians are wonderful people and their friendly welcome along with all of the natural attractions, beautiful scenery and wildlife, make the country one I long for and miss. Luckily I get to visit and try to do so as often as I can.
In 1990 I saw the emergence of skiing in North America and its appeal to British skiers, so took the opportunity to set up a travel company offering trips to the Canadian mountains. Over the years interest in holidays to Canada increased and we soon found ourselves receiving enquiries for trips to see the Rockies in the summer time, for self drive holidays and the like. Gradually we explored further and interest in other destinations emerged. We now have just about every destination in Canada covered and I have be lucky enough to visit almost everyone – remote log cabins in the North West Territories, Ice Hotels in Quebec, Dude Ranches in Alberta and Vineyards in British Columbia, amongst others!
At Frontier we delight in helping travellers get the best out of their trip to Canada, so take pride in ensuring we know what people want to do and helping to make sure they get to see everything they want to see.
Our favourite destinations include, of course Vancouver and Vancouver Island, with its amazing wildlife – bears, eagles, whales and more, the Rocky Mountaineer Railway, Polar Bear spotting in Churchill and Niagara Falls – surely one of the natural wonders of the World.
For many people a trip to Canada is a once in a lifetime holiday, to see the mountains, the bears, Niagara, but increasingly we find, more people are getting the bug that I have and re-visiting Canada and all of its diversity – self-driving around the picturesque shores of Nova Scotia, visiting the Klondike Gold Rush region or taking a Christmas Shopping break to Montreal.
I could go on…’
