Morecambe in Lancashire was the setting for a Victorian Steampunk Extravaganza. It took place on the seafront next to the former railway station. The theme was Around the World in 80 Days.
There were some splendid costumes and a variety of entertainment on offer. The Chinese Lion Dance with drummers was superbly performed. Then there were unicycle performers, a tea duelling contest , a one-man band, singers, clog dancers, and weird & wonderful machines. Inside the former Victorian theatre there were stalls selling an assortment of artisan steampunk extravagances. The Victorian Fairground provided some nostalgic jaunts.
We stopped off at Brucianni’s Art Deco Ice Cream Parlour for tea and cakes. The place still retains its authentic 1930’s interior.
All in all – a splendid day out!
