Reasons for trip

Set in Mayfair, this is one of those little known attractions. It is basically two houses, where Handel lived for over 30 years & Jimi Hendrix lived for just under a year. After viewing Handel’s rooms with period furniture (there are four,) it is contrasting to say the least to see the Hendrix building decorated in the 1960’s style. The interpretation in both is good so if you do not know much about Handel or Hendrix, you will come away enlightened!

There is a series of events celebrating both periods. We attended a Bach concert with violin and harpsichord in one of the small rooms. It was very intimate with about 20 people there. The cost was £10 and it lasted just over an hour. We were able to visit both houses prior to the concert. Check their website www.handelhendrix.org for details of current events. It is well worth it and something very different to do at the end of a day in London. The concert started at 6.30 pm.

The entrance door is easy to miss, if like us, you have a tendency to be distracted by the shops in this area. There is a small shop but no refreshments on site but then you are in Central London so that should not be a problem.
