Reasons for trip

Peaceful, Colourful and serene this walled garden is a great place to take a stroll and to sit admiring the plants and flowers as well as views of the nearby imposing Melrose Abbey and the Eildon Hills.

The Harmony Garden is owned by National Trust Scotland as is Harmony House an early 19th century house which the gardens are built around. The House is not open to the public (but it can be hired as a holiday home). It is the gardens which are built around it that people come to see.

The garden is a mixture of herbaceous and mixed borders, vegetable and fruit areas and a small lawn area. There are gravel and slate pathways, most of the garden is level, there are a couple of steps in one area which perhaps could be avoided by crossing the lawn.

Non national trust members pay £6.50 per adult to visit the property with concessions paying £5. However, this ticket also entitled me to visit the nearby Priorwood Garden,

There is a public car park not too far away (around 100metres) opposite the Abbey..

Next door to the Harmony Garden is another visitor attraction called the Abbey Woollen Mills, which are famous for their woollen goods and for their delicious afternoon teas, they have a car park.
