Our local WI organised a trip to the Prince of Wales theatre in Cannock, to see and difficult to find, and the suggested parking meant crossing a very busy dual carriageway. Inside, the foyer was miniscule and the theatre itself reached by several flights of narrow stairs, which looked like a fire escape. The coffee lounge was small and crowded and served awful coffee. The calendar girls were excellent! These WI ladies have helped raise over £3,000,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. We had Angela, Trica and Beryl talking to us, giving an amusing account of what had happened during the past 10 years since the fundraising started. We also had the WI singers, The Harmonies, to entertain us. It was a fund raising event mainly, with signed calendars, and other items for sale, a raffle, and buckets being rattled as we went out! It just goes to show that you can’t judge an event by the venue!
