Reasons for trip

Yesterday was the hottest October day on record, and today is almost as warm. Got up early, and set off for a local car boot sale. I thought we were early, but had to queue to get in, and it was only 8am! What an assortment of people ranging from women dressed in black, some with full burkka head dress, to somewhat overweight people in full gaudy beach wear and flip flops. Endless rows of car booters, with too much space between rows, so it was difficult to glance and see, we had to weave to and fro. I was looking for two things. The first was girls clothes for a 2-3 year old, but not in pink – a tall order. When buying clothes for grandchildren, I have to think what label, colour and style is acceptable, and remember which ones don’t mind second hand and which wouldn’t find the idea unacceptable. I shall wash the items and say they came from a charity shop – that’s one step better than car boot! The second thing was white ceramic pottery. These items can be cleaned up and painted with ceramic paint, and sold at fund raising events. This batch is for the local art group to paint. After two hours we were very hot and tired and very dusty. We managed to find were we had parked the car, and it was heaven to put the purchases in the boot and sit down. Next port of call was the local garden centre. Having started the day in glorious summer weather, we moved on the winter as soon as we entered the garden centre and saw the winter wonderland display. Further into the centre it was autumn with a display of Halloween goodies. We headed for the neutral zone – the restaurant, where we just caught the early morning offer of a bacon bap and coffee. Comfy sofa and the Sunday newspapers, and air conditioned – a good morning out!
