This is a lovely setting at the northern tip of the Langness Peninsula opposite the now closed hotel. A sign outside proclaimed it welcomed visitors.

I had walked out from Castletown and decided to investigate the cake selection (and use the toilets…) The cafe is upstairs with large picture windows overlooking Castletown Bay and Derbyhaven. Pots of herbs were on the window ledges and there were pale wood tables and chairs or large squashy armchairs to sit in.

There is a small service counter with a selection of cold drinks, and wines with John Smith, Carling and Guinness on tap. The blackboard menu included steak and ale pie along with a variety of salads and soup. The cake selection was displayed on a small side table. There was a choice of coffee cake, fruit loaf, banana bread, banana and choc chip cake, sticky toffee and salted caramel cake…

I chose the coffee cake which was brought out to me. It was a big slice, moist and good coffee flavour.. It wasn’t too sweet and had plenty of filling and icing. At £3 I thought it was very good value.

There was a large group of golfers at one of the tables as well as a smaller group in a far corner. Both groups ignored me.
