Fred. Olsen River Cruise

We recently sailed on a Fred Olsen River Cruise on the Danube. The age of our fellow passengers I would say approx. 60-80 yrs. We have previously sailed many times with Fred Olsen Cruises and they suit us very well, however we were less impressed with their river cruise. It seemed to us that no-one had done their homework on that cruise. There were attractions on shore that no-one on board seemed to know about, i.e. beer festival, and an annual costume parade in Passau of local costumes. We sailed half an hour before the parade was due to begin. We would have liked to take an excursion to Salzburg, but we only arrived at the port for Salzburg at 4.30 pm and left at 10 pm, no time to get there and back in time. The food and company was enjoyable, the cabins were lovely, the limited entertainment was good, but this cruise left us a little underwhelmed. Sorry Fred Olsen, you must do better.

Hardyplantover 1 year agoI've often thought that this sort of cruise would be frustrating as I always do my homework before a holiday and have set ideas on what I want to do. I'm afraid I would spend the whole time seething so I think I'll leave going on a cruise until I am unable to get around under my own steam.
