This tour is not for the faint hearted or those who find walking difficult as apart from Khartoum the locations are in the desert but it’s fantastic. It was organised by The Italian Touring Company in Sudan. They had everything needed to transport us safely! The guide was excellent and the 4×4 cars we travelled in were excellent. The locations have much to offer with respect to the vast history and archaeology of north Sudan. Eight days was perhaps a little short. There are pyramid sites, museums and nomadic tribes to see. Dervish dancers in Khartoum. Accommodation is basic in the desert but all meals are provided. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the the people of Sudan, their kings, queens and the history of Sudan. Of course there is a connection with Egyptian pharaohs and kingdoms but with a difference. Some of the sites have been under excavation for more than 30 years …. quite amazing! Internet access was good in the desert although slow and mainly in the public areas of the camps. Toiletries not provided so good to take one’s own. Sudan is a hidden gem indeed.
