As we are hoping to visit China in 2018 the invitation via Silver Travel Advisor, to attend an evening learning about the country with Wendy Wu Tours was an opportunity too good to miss. The audience assembled in the Oddfellows Hotel in Chester, and could have been a gathering of Silver Travellers”. There were about sixty of us and approximately half had already been to the far east before, and the majority of those had travelled with Wendy Wu.

After a welcome glass of bubbly, we were entertained by a Dragon, who danced round the room engaging us in his routine. It certainly put us in the right mood for the forthcoming presentation. Sometimes, even when you are interested in the subject these can be uninspiring. The presentation was split between a couple of their experts who were able to give us an extensive review of the range of tours they have to offer and could only be described as inspirational.

Whilst Wendy Wu are noted for their extensive range of tours in China they have expanded their tours to Vietnam, Cambodia,Laos, Burma, India and Japan. They no longer limit themselves to Asia, but now offer tours in Latin America, Africa, Australia and Russia.

Over the last few years we have booked the various components of our holidays separately, and were originally considering adding a trip to Beijing, the Great wall and Xian to a cruise. Having seen the options available and just a sample of the additional places of interest in their itineraries we are now convinced that a tour with Wendy is the answer. In order to have our cruise fix, we are likely to choose one incorporating a Yangtze River Cruise. The prices quoted are fully inclusive, including obtaining your visas, all meals, flights and transfers and of course the provision of those all important expert guides.

Talking to a couple of their previous guests after the presentation, over a glass of wine and nibbles reinforced this decision. Wendy Wu have exceptional customer satisfaction levels and the comments from those we spoke to afterward speak volumes to support this. The thing that was repeated was that you got to see so much more than you could ever hope to see on your own. Your entrance to all the sites is preplanned and avoids queues allowing you to get the most out of your visit.

The tours on offer are not only varied in the locations visited, but for the seriously adventurous the range of Discovery Tours enable you to have a more immersive (and energetic) experience, including the option to reach Base Camp at Everest. If adventure is not what you are looking for their Exclusive Collection provides a more luxurious experience.

If after studying their brochures you still can’t decide, or perhaps want to add to a particular tour, for example a stay in Hong Kong or combining locations, such as a visit to Angkor Wat in Cambodia then their Tailor Made service providing bespoke tours may well provide the answer. Alternatively, like so many of the guests at the presentation, don’t bank on this being a one off experience but join the increasing number of repeat customers and have more than one tour!
