The weather had turned grey when we arrived in Robin Hoods Bay after spending a sunny day in and around Glaisdale the day before. We located our bed and breakfast and decided to park nearby, and have a drink and piece of cake, at the old Hotel Victoria which has a garden where you can admire the sea views. Several benches were available to look out to sea and admire red rooves. Then we walked the fairly steep hill, down to the centre of the town, an old historic, smuggling village, with its many alleyways and tunnels and old buildings. We happened to come across the old museum, very quaint, and with a personal service towards interested people. It was fun hearing the old stories and the battles the English had with Flanders folk, especially as my husband is from there and another Dutchman was already listening to the tales. The views were wonderful outside, and the tide was out allowing children, dogs and adults ,plenty of time to explore the rockpools. Once again we went to sit down for a drink, this time at the Bay hotel upstairs, where we looked out over all the amusements in and around the rockpools and watched the little boats and distant ships on the smooth sea. We were tired after looking at a craft exhibition and Inn where we planned to eat, but hunger got the better of us and we had fish n chips at the indoor café, wonderful seaviews, glad to be sheltering from the rain. It threw it down. Next time I go it will be sunny, its such a special place.

We went in the old St Stephens church, it was very different to most other churches I 've been in. I shall have to read up on it. I would love to return to that area soon.

It's one of my favourite places aswell, and there are other little gems further up the coast in Runswick Bay and Staithes.

I love Robin Hood's BAy too and it is well worth the walk down from the car park - as well as the steep climb back up! There are so many narrow streets to explore. Did you find the lovely Old St Stephen's Church set high above the village?
