We booked with Gray Line to go to one of the plantations outside New Orleans. We booked online and picked the tickets up at the office near where the coaches stop. In New Orleans, you need to walk to the departure point as the hotels are located on narrow, busy streets. There are stops for four coaches, none of them under shelter so you are waiting in the heat of the sun for some 15/20 minutes. The coach driver gave some interesting commentary as we were driving along. Seats were comfortable and had a fair bit of legroom. One lady was disabled and he paid her special attention, she was able to board first and sit in the front seat with more space, while he stored her wheelchair elsewhere. The aircon wasn’t working properly and he did manage to fix it while we were inside – I have to say it was fine where we were sitting though! On the whole I would recommend them, they made such a trip easy.

You can take a chance and turn up on the day but it's risky! We only booked the night before and did get seats, although the coach was pretty much full. I guess it's always better to pre-book to avoid disappointment.

Do you book your seat, or is it pot luck when the coach arrives?
