Sadly the P&O Adonia is on secondment for a year or so to do community work in the Caribbean. So although we had a great cruise there isn’t too much point in talking about the ship and cruise but I thought that I would write about a P&O cruise versus other cruise lines I have been on and point out the advantages.

1) Unlike other cruise lines I have been on P&O don’t seem to have a hard sell approach to ship shopping. They did have sales but they were kept low key (no pressure to buy or lose out).

2) drinks prices were more reasonable than on other ships (although still equivalent to a pricey pub). But for example a bottle of very tasty house wine was only £15.50. A 330ml tin of soft drink was £1.65.

3) The service and food was excellent. The tips applied for the trip we also thought reasonable at £5pppn.

4) The price of trips was much lower than those on other cruises but I may be comparing apples to pears here as my previous cruises were to the Mediterranean and Norway. 1/2 days trips on the islands were only around £40 each.

5) Adult only ship with excellent entertainment and entertainment staff.

Overall I would definitely go with P&O again and recommend it to silver travellers.
I would also recommend a cruise that visits the Caribbean and Amazon. I loved being able to see the Amazon just to say that I had done it but next time I will look for a cruise that just goes to more Caribbean islands as the islands were prettier.
