We saved a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town for a day when the forecast predicted rain.

It was excellent lots of water tanks, information, fish and unfortunately small, excited school children in huge groups. It was a paradise for them with tunnels they could climb through which brought them up in the centre of the pool so there was fish all around them.

At the Touch Pool you could hold a variety of fish and there was constantly a queue at the Microscope Exhibit.

At a ‘Been There’ photo booth you could have your photo taken which is then uploaded on to their Facebook page – if you want to see me and the Silver Travel Bag click on this link and search for 15 September around 11am – you can’t miss the bag! It made a change from having your photograph taken and then finding at the end you can buy it for an exorbitant price.

We made our way up to the second floor (via a ramp) to the penguins and although it was nearly time for their 11.45am feed, we didn’t stop as the small, excited school children were even more excited and noisy.

In the final section there was a huge tall tank which spanned two floors with sharks and other predators. We spent around 2 hours there and as we left, it stopped raining.

The adult entrance fee was SAR131 (£6.50) and it is open from 9.30am to 6pm and the ticket allows you to re-enter on the same day.
