Travelling to Scotland from the east midlands is a long journey but this coach journey is nicely broken up. First we travel to Normanton where we change coaches after having a break at an interchange where refreshments, toilet facilities are available then on we go and another short break at a service station on again and then a break at the world famous Gretna Green with its shops, restaurant and facilities then on to Tarbet.

All luggage is taken care of and from your home departure the next time you see it is in your hotel room. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are carried for you and the obliging drivers take care of the loading and unloading at every point of your holiday. My husband is quite severely disabled and he is helped with care and respect by all of the staff.

The Tarbet Hotel right opposite Loch Lomond is wonderful for location, food and evening entertainment the rooms are large and the staff are extremely helpful treating you as if they had known you for years. We have been several times and found it the same each time. It has a truly Scottish flavour with a piper and highland dancers coming in for evening entertainment as well as singers and a comedian. The board is half board and the hotel as light snacks or packed lunches for lunch if required. 2 trips are included in the 5 day break. These vary according to the week from a day in Glasgow to a ride on the west highland line to Fort William all included in the price. On your free day being right opposite the loch I would recommend the Loch Lomond cruise about £10 and well worth it. To cruise the loch more than once is just a pleasure.

Cost July 2015 £169 which I think is a bargain. Micheal Portillo in his programme Railway Journeys stayed at this hotel.

The view in the picture is the view opposite the hotel.

The company is Shearings Holidays. The journey takes most of the day but i like the breaks as scotland is a long journey. They do not specialise in disabled but are very accomadating. I never book at the starting price as it gets nearer the time the price goes down. This has been my experience so far. The food has been very good and the evening entertainment excellent. They go from all over the country to many destinations. Yes, Half board at such a hotel with travel and trips is very cheap. But they own the coaches and the hotel. You can book online at shearings .co.uk or at a travel agent. All i can suggest is give it a try and see if it is for you.

Can I ask a few questions please. Who did you book this through and what was the company? Does the company specialise in holidays for disabled travellers? How long did the journey take?

It sounds wonderful, especially at the price.
