Although we have been to lots of places in Europe, we had not been to all the wonderful places in England. We decided that Cornwall was one of the places that we had not visited. We went, armed with travel guides from the library and a good weather forecast. We were staying in a mobile home at Parkdean Holiday Park. We did n’t know what to expect but it was cheap. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The mobile home was spacious ,clean and had everything necessary for a good holiday. We went to Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow on our first day. They were all very picturesque and worth a visit.

They were making preparations to film at Port Isaac for the next day. I could have asked Doc Martin about my husband’s knee.

I was amazed at how reasonable the shops and cafes were and it did n’t take us long to succumb to the temptation of a cornish cream tea. Very fattening but we had walked up and down some very steep hills!

Day two was spent going along the coast alongside Looe so we visited Polperro and Fowey. Be warned, beware of the seagulls taking great joy at leaving you with a lasting memory of Cornwall in the form of droppings. On the way home we stopped in Looe and bought some lemon sole from the fishmongers on the quay. It was delicious and you can ’t get fresher than that!

The last full day was spent at The Eden Project. I would strongly recommend the whole experience. From entering to leaving ,the people were all friendly and helpful. The food in all the restaurants was reasonably priced and the settings for their eateries were idyllic. On the way home we went to Mevagissey which was a disappointment but only because it was quite breezy. Our final meal was at the Trawler on the quayside of Looe. It had a great atmosphere and some unusual and adventurous meals. My husband had monkfish goujons which were to die for and I had the mackerel with garlic mushrooms. A perfect end to a great holiday break.

My only reservation about Cornwall is that there are lots of single lane roads that are quite hairy if you meet another car coming the other way.

We love visiting Cornwall. There is so much to see and do there. We enjoy walking along the cliff paths. The little towns along the coast are gorgeous. You can see why it's a top English holiday area.

I also have memries of a seagull stealing my Cornish pasty in Fowey. I'd only taken one bite from it too.
