I visited this pub with some family members last spring when in England. The food was delicious, plentiful, and prompt, and the service was excellent. They promise all natural ingredients, fresh and (as much as possible), locally sourced. It is situated on the Leeds/Liverpool canal so accessible by road or boat. Dating back to 1750 it claims to be the first pub along the canal.

I had the chicken, ham and leek pie (which I can no longer find on the menu, so it must have been a special at that time) and followed it up with the chocolate fudge cake (£4.95). The children’s menu even features roast dinner options (£4.95 including sweet), of which the youngster in our party devoured the chicken option. Currently the menu of the day is £12.50 for two courses and £14.50 for three courses. Just reviewing the menu, I am getting hungry for my next visit.

There is a large garden and the pub is family and dog friendly. The youngest of our group wanted to spend some time in the playground, unfortunately, it was starting to rain and thunder as we left so we had to scamper.
