In June 2013 I won a mini cruise with P&O ferries at the Lincolnshire Show with the Scunthorpe Lions Club. I could choose a ferry trip from Hull to Amsterdam , Rotterdam or Bruges & I chose Bruges. I was given until the end of 2013 to take this prize. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with bowel cancer & had an operation to remove 1 metre of my bowel & was too ill to travel. I contacted P&O & they kindly extended this offer to the end of March. My husband & I drove to Hull at the end of March & parked our car in the P&O car park with a cost of £7 for each 24 hours. The crossing was very smooth & the evening buffet meals & buffet breakfasts were excellent We paid extra for the meals but they were well worth it.We prebooked our meals when we booked our ferry & it was a few pounds cheaper to do this. Our en suite cabin was small but comfortable & we had the option of upgrading. There was a cinema on board with a cost of £5.50 per film & a pianist entertaining in the moonlight bar. A coach at Zeebrugge drove us to Bruges & brought us back to our ferry at 5.30 p.m .At reception we bought tickets to the chocolate museum The cost of the trip is only £75 per person. There are also offers of buy one get one free in low season. We thought it was very good value for money & we will definitely use the P&O ferries again. The crew were all very helpful especially in the dining room & directing us to our cabin.

I traveled on this route to Belgium in 2001 for a driving tour to Antwerp and Ghent with an aunt, uncle and cousin and found it to be very good. The overnight trip is longer than others we have taken in the south so you get a good night of sleep. I wish you continued health. I had the same surgery in 2003 followed by chemotherapy and, touch wood, am still doing well.
