This was our first City Break with Jet2 Holidays. It was also our first venture to Hungary. We are very satisfied on both counts.



Much to our delight, although Jet2 is a budget airline, Jet2 Holidays offer City Breaks from budget accommodation up to five star hotels. We like the latter. As we already knew and have enjoyed the Kempinski Bristol Hotel in Berlin, we chose the Kempinski Corvinus Hotel in Budapest. Our stay was in late November.



We flew from Manchester. This is not our favourite airport. Food at the Bar MCR in Terminal 1 is overpriced and of below average quality. On our return we were kept waiting for 15 minutes in a sticky unventilated plane, due to ground staff not chocking the front wheels so that neither the air bridge nor an external power supply could be coupled. Once Jet2 staff had found and used chocks and following a meaningful apology from the Captain, we disembarked. Luggage did not appear in the hall until 45 minutes after landing. No explanation was forthcoming from the airport. Indeed neither airport nor ground staff contractors, Swissport, staff were visible in the hall. Needless to say, no apology was offered. We later learnt that Swissport staff are in dispute with their employer. It appears that Swissport care little for both their staff and their customers. Swissport is owned by a private equity company. Need I say more?



However, Manchester Airport was the only blot on an otherwise excellent holiday. Jet2 flights were comfortable and punctual. The Kempinski Corvinus Hotel was well up to standard. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Our Jet2 Holidays break of three nights at £483 included flights, hotel breakfasts and a superior room at the Kempinski. The room and bathroom were both spacious and well appointed. This modern hotel is situated in the heart of the city of Pest within easy walking distance of many shops and attractions, not least the renowned Christmas Market. Meals at the hotel’s ÉS Bistro are excellent and varied to suit every taste. Charges for lunch and dinner are very reasonable by international city hotel standards. Truly five stars!

    I agree with you Rainydaysuzy. The only (perceived) drawback is that many of Jet2's planes are quite old, but nonetheless completely airworthy. For me, Jet2's service and the legroom completely beats certain other low cost carriers, which operate brand new planes but offer consistently poor service.

    We have flown from Manchester to Paphos and back with Jet2, several in the last few years. Though there has been the odd delay, not their fault. Have also found their planes gave generous leg room, which pleases my very tall husband.
