My son asked if I would run him and his children to the Derby Peak District for the traditional January 'rain walk'. I agreed on condition I could stay overnight as I did not relish driving home in the dark. His son was ill, so he, myself and my granddaughter aged 13 went. I only stayed for one night and the rest of his family were going to join him the following night. We stayed in an annexe at the back of the Inn. The rooms were very nice indeed, in fact luxurious after our 4 mile walk through muddy fields etc… We had booked B&B so we looked around the village for somewhere to eat our evening meal. As the only Pub had not yet opened we returned to our Inn where we had an excellent dinner. The only downer was that the fire was left to go out and I would have loved to have seen a roaring fire in the grate! My room was a double with facilities for the disabled ( which I had not requested), but would be fine for anyone with a mobility problem as there was a walk-in shower and a disabled toilet with rails and so forth. We ate breakfast in the dining room which was served promptly with a smile, and then left on our second muddy walk, on which the mud at times was excessive and at one point like quick sand! My granddaughters' trainers got well and truly stuck fast and I could not pull them out. Luckily my son managed to release them. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again and hopefully the Inn fire will be glowing. I did end up driving up the motorway home in the dark again, but it was worth it!
