Potters is more than a hotel & to call it a holiday camp evokes images of a tacky 60s resort. Perhaps it's more akin to CentreParcs but with the food & entertainment thrown in.

Accommodation wise there is a wide choice & we stayed in the hotel at extra cost. The rooms are spacious, well equipped, comfortable & spotlessly clean. A must for a winter break is that the place is warm & they keep the place well heated & most activities are under the one roof.

Food is outstanding, with plenty of choice, good portion sizes & you can either be served or collect from the buffet. Can't praise this aspect of Potters enough.

The staff in all aspects of the resort are their best asset. Helpful, efficient, polite & have a great sense of humour.

Activities are good & well organised. Facilities are good & with the notable exception of the 10 pin bowling, included in the price. I tried the climbing wall this time, good fun.

Entertainment is also outstanding. We went when there were 2 nights of the Potters team & stayed the extra night to see Gary Mullins Queen Tribute. All three nights were top class, with Mark Brewer being his normal outrageous self. You wouldn't be disappointed if you paid to watch a show with these singers in it (& here its included in the price). For me the Queen tribute was the absolute business.

So why not 5 star? This time we had an issue with getting hot water in late afternoon/evening so cold showers prior to going for dinner wasn't what we wanted. This was dealt with for our third night & accompanied by an apology & suitable compensation. Things are going to go wrong at some time, so this response was great customer service.

The lunchtime quizzes etc. in the terrace bar are getting a bit stale. The same routine has been going on for years, time to freshen this up. Really funny if its your first time though.

My greatest issue with Potters is that they are now attracting a rowdy element, particularly on the all inclusive weekends. Despite the West End class shows being put on, there is a constant din of people talking or even shouting at times that really spoils my enjoyment of the shows. This time some drunken idiot tried to pick up a table full of glasses & it was close to falling on my friends. The security & Management seem to do little about this, even though we were assured that they were monitoring the situation. There is a massive difference between singing along, having a good laugh & making things uncomfortable & even dangerous for other guests.

This issue is a blight on an otherwise outstanding experience & we have been coming to Potters for many many years. Will we come back again…..not sure.

I've been back to Potters since this review & they seem to have addressed this issue. The all inclusive events don't begin the "free bar" until 6pm and there are more awareness notices around & security. Seems much better now.
