This hotel is not such – it is a restaurant with rooms. Moreover, apart from the suite – which naturally features prominently on their website – the rooms are tiny. There are no communal rooms for guests. Fortunately the weather was good for our stay, but on a rainy day it would feel prison-like. "Bryggan" means wharf in Swedish, but it uncomfortably close to "Brig" – which was the name used for naval prison accomodation! There is no air-conditioning, so we had to leave the windows open. The "hotel's" one asset – its location at the epicentre of the delightful harbour town – is also its downfall – revellers were shouting in the street underneath our window until 3am. The symphony resumed with the refuse trucks at 6am. The final drawback is that the staff care nothing for the wellbeing of their guests – they are just keen to serve the mob of customers in their very popular café. All in all, great if you are an insomniac dwarf, but for the rest of humanity – steer well clear!
