I travelled to Prague with a group of friends (Morris Dancers) to attend the local international Folk Festival in July 2011, and the Festival organisers placed us in the Bila Labut hotel.

This is a best Western hotel which is classed as a 3* but only just makes that grade. It is a small hotel in a not-too-busy street a block away from one of the main Squares in Prague, Republic Square.

There is a small seating area near the main (small) reception and then the 'restaurant' which caters for breakfasts (mainly) plus evening meals.

The rooms were fairly typical to UK hotels of this standard if a little 'tired' and with very little room to move around the bed(s). The bath has an attached shower head with a just-long-enough shower curtain to hang inside the bath.

The biggest problems with the rooms we had were the complete lack of air conditioning, as it was very stifling conditions during July (temperatures up to 30 degrees plus) and only a small table-top fan was provided; and the noise at the back of the Hotel from construction work being carried out from 07:00 until midnight plus deliveries to the local LIDL store nearby during the early hours.

The food and service became a source of amusement within our group as "not my fault/nothing to do with me" seems to be the Czech default position when confronted with any kind of complaint, while the food was bland and bordering on inedible, with any cake from the dessert offered one evening being served up again the following morning as part of the breakfast menu. This was a shame, as we had many excellent meals around Prague during our lunch stops in the City.

Prague is a beautiful and wonderful city to visit, but it is a shame that hotels such as this Best Western could dampen one's enthusiasm for such a special place.

Unless you have a particularly compelling reason to stay at the Bila Labut, you would be better off finding an alternative hotel in the area.
