We flew BA club class from Heathrow to Washington Dulles airport. This left London in the morning, arriving early afternoon in Washington. We had checked in 24 hours before and chose our seats – at the back of the top deck, our favourites. The online check in worked smoothly (we had previously entered the passenger details etc and arranged our ESTAs).



On arrival at Heathrow T5 everything went smoothly and swiftly – baggage check in, security etc were not busy. We went to the BA lounge close to our departure gate for breakfast. This was slightly disappointing – the only hot options were rolls with bacon or mushrooms. Soon after we arrived in the lounge the departure screens showed a 2 hour delay for our flight – I spent some time on the lounge computers checking e-mails but over 3 hours waiting cannot be anything but boring.



We eventually boarded, had a glass of champagne, and the flight took off just over 2 hours late. Lunch was served after more drinks and nuts. We both had smoked salmon to start then steak for my husband, mushroom pasta for me; cheese and biscuits and a very good ice cream afterwards. We both decided to put the seats flat and have a nap as did most of the passengers – the lights had been dimmed. The flight caught up some of the time delay and we were served an afternoon cream tea with sandwichesjust before touch down.



Unfortunately when we landed we had to wait for the transfer vehicles as a flight that had landed just before ours was using them. I do not like the Dulles airport transfer system, I prefer buses or shuttles if you cannot access the terminal directly. Immigration took about 40 mins and our luggage was waiting when we reached the carousel.



Overall the flight was good with excellent cabin staff – it was the time spent at the airports that was the problem.
