Just writing in to let everyone know about a wonderful way to spend a family vacation in Europe. We took a canal boat through Holland several years ago and are now looking to do it again. This was a very relaxing trip, where we were able to spend time (real quality time) with our kids and grandkids. The boat was very comfortable and even my husband with his injured knee was able to maneuver around very easily. Really enjoyed the idea of 'slow travel'. We went from one town to the next and were able to just sit on deck and then walk and explore for several hours per day. This beats our other European vacation in which we rushed from one place to the next in busy cities. My son in law captained the boat and he said it was really quite easy. The rest of us just pitched in where we could. I'd recommend canal boating to anyone, and the company we booked with took good care of us. Our next plan is to tour the canals in the South of France.
