Our gorgeous Dartmoor hike, up on the high moors had been wonderful. The views from the Tors full of bright colour from the heather and gorse. We decided to keep " local " and try a country pub in the village. The Tavistock Inn looked stunning with loads of flowers flowing out of hanging baskets. There were seats both outside and in, and a secret garden out the back which was hidden away, and truly beautiful. The menu was varied, but we fancied a crab salad from the "specials" board. The seafood apparently is delivered daily from Brixham. When it arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the portion size. The crabmeat was both white meat and dark and served in the shell. There was ample salad and homemade coleslaw . A crusty bread roll accompanied it. The other choices on the menu were all freshly prepared, including different pies, plough mans, steaks, sandwiches etc. We really enjoyed our visit to Dartmoor and will pencil in another trip as soon as we can!
