As its name suggests, this is opposite the Market Hall in the centre of Ledbury. We were in need of a cup of tea and the choice of cakes enticed us in. It was also busy – a good sign. It is an attractive cafe with two rooms full of tables and chairs.

There was a good choice from coffee and walnut cake, chocolate and beetroot cake, orange drizzle cake, lemon polenta, flapjack, scones, brownies…. There was an average choice of herbal tea but that included my favourite lemon and ginger. We placed out order, found a table and waited to be served. We didn’t need to wait long.

Tea and cakes came to £8.50. They were generous portions. The chocolate and beetroot was possibly a bit dry and I wasn’t too sure about the lurid pink icing. The lemon and polenta was moist and crumbly with a good lemon flavour and very more-ish

The cafe also serves breakfasts and hot meals from £6.90.Portions were generous and looked and smelt good.

Sandwiches are £5.50 and are four thick slices of bread with equally thick fillings.

The place was busy with locals – understandably so. If busy it can feel a bit cramped as there isn’t a lot of space between the tables.
