Last month I enjoyed a delicious pub lunch at the Inn at Whitewell near Clitheroe in Lancashire. We were going on from lunch for a walk in the area (Forest of Bowland) but headed to the inn first for something to fortify us for the afternoon. There was a wedding happening at the church next door to the inn and it was nice to see the church dressed up with flowers around the door and to see some of the guests in their finery imbibing at the pub. We were able to snag a table in a window so were luck enough to take in the views of the countryside behind the inn as well.

It was a Sunday and the parking lot was full but me managed to find a spot on the road above the Inn. This is pub food at its best. I had cheese and onion pie with carrot puree and green beans and potatoes. We ignored starters in order to have dessert. The Bakewell tart with cream and creme anglaise was delicious. The best Bakewell tart I have ever had – light and fluffy with perfect pastry.

The rooms at the inn look great too!
