This is a busy fishing village in the south of Malta with a weekly fish market every Sunday – lots of special trips advertised but it is just as easy to catch a service bus. There are lots of cafes and restaurants along the promenade, either inside or with tables alongside the harbour, so you have a lot of choice. We strolled along looking at menus – not cheap but clearly based on local fresh fish. The one we finally chose was La Nostra Padrona. We had the special of the day – filleted sea bass – at 12.50 euros each but what a fantastic meal. Exceptional quality, especially as I am a bit picky with fish – get a bone in a mouthful and that’s me finished – but this was truly a superb experience. It was all beautifully served, as you can see from the photograph here, with a crisp, dry (expensive) glass of wine. A restaurant that deserves a second visit.
