It's the second time we have visited the Hardwick and this time it was better than the first. Ok it's not a pub menu I think the word is Gastro pub but the food is dam good and well cooked, you come away feeling special. First we had warm bread with oil and butter, last time it came with balsamic and I think it was better with the balsamic. We then had pork belly with black pudding and Sue had the linguine with fresh Devon white crab meat, Ortiz anchovies, frisee, courgettes, chilli, shallot, parsley and crunchy brown butter breadcrumbs as a starter very nice. We both then had roast rack & braised spiced shoulder of local lamb, spiced lentils with tomato & coriander, grilled courgettes & aubergine, cucumber & yoghurt and harissa with seasonal greens and hand cut chips every thing on this plate was cooked to perfection and was very tasty indeed well worth every penny. Pudding was Vin Santo with Cantuccini biscuits it's a sweet wine for my partner and for me was a very nice almond tart with poached pear in red wine so nice I could have eaten two of these, yum yum. Coffee was the best I have had for a long time I must say they do a sharing meal for two which is a taste of local beef – 72h cooked short rib, ox tail pithivier, rib burger on creamed mushrooms with onion rings, braised shin, confit shallots, seasonal greens and sauce Bordelaise with a choice of triple cooked chips, new potatoes or mashed potato. It looks realy nice and smells out of this world. The drinks are realy priced not too dear. It's a place I will be back to soon.
