We gave this Russian restaurant a try via a Wowcher voucher and we were pleasantly surprised. Because we had the voucher (£17 for 3 course for the two of us!) we had to choose from the "Duke Stroganoff" menu which is normally reserved for pre-6pm diners. We were told by the waiter before we ordered that the voucher did not cover side orders or drinks, which was fair enough. The menu is limited but not overly so. My wife started with Chicken Blini and my starter was Ribnie Kotlety which was a fishcake of salmon, cod and crab. Both were of generous proportion and very tasty. A side of lovely black bread (4 slices with butter) complemented. For my main, I chose the Kuritsa Sovochamy which was basically a chicken casserole with large pieces of tender chicken. I ordered a side of rice to go with it. The chicken was a bit bland for me but it was a good portion and the rice was fluffy and light. My wife had the Beef Stroganoff, another generous portion with rice, and she said it was very good. Sweets were limited to Blini, Ice Cream or Russian cake. I had the Blini with lemon and sugar (other toppings were available) and my wife had the cake. My blini was very good, but my wife was disappointed with the cake. Drinks wise there was a good choice of Russian beers and, as one would expect, plethora of vodkas. I had a couple of Baltika 3 beers. My wife played safe with cola. The beer was excellent. The extra cost of 3 x sides, 2 x beers and 2 x colas was £20, which I thought was reasonable. Ambience wise, the tables were a little too close together and the music was a bit rubbish. If I have one gripe it is that the service was too efficient in that there was no wait between courses. This may have been because we were on a voucher, as were most of the diners on this particular night. Would we go again? Yes probably to try the A La Carte menu. It looks interesting, if a little expensive.

Sounds really interesting. I didn't know that there is a Russian restaurant in Manchester. I have live in Manchester for many years.
