We had enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The Terrace Café in late August, so much so that when we found ourselves in Kelso a few days later we decided to have lunch at The Terrace .

The Terrace Café is west of Floors Castle, it has a separate entrance to the castle and grounds. Whereas the castle is closed in the Winter, The Terrace Café remains open.

The Café is accommodated in cottage buildings on a row of terraced cottages. It provides the opportunity to sit inside or outside overlooking the beautiful Walled Garden from where a lot of the cafe's fresh produce originates.

The Café is on the Roxburghe Estate, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe. The Duchess created the Terrace Café. Receipes used come from the Caste Kitchen produced by the Duke's personal chef.

Walking into the Terrace Café, the atmosphere is relaxed. However, as it was such a glorious September day we decided to sit outside for the garden views. The meals were superb. I enjoyed Floors Castle Salmon Fisshcakes which were packed with fresh salmon! as well as a fresh Summer Salad and toasted pitta bread. Hubby enjoyed spiced lamb, apricot, spring onion and coriander curry with rice. The menu was varied, the service excellent.

Parking is on the road, just close to the café. The café is all on one level making it suitable for those with mobility issues.
