I booked a table at AskItalian in Baker Street London at 5pm on Thursday evening, planning a pre-show meal before heading off to see Mama Mia. The resturant is bright and cheerful looking and seemed a nice place to take my neice as part of our evening out. The menu had a good selection of pasta and pizza dishes. I choose lasagne and salad which was fine, my neice chose meatballs and pasta. The meatballs tasted nice, she said, but there were a miserable two meatballs on the plate. This dish cost £10. Then came the dessert, I ordered cheescake which again was fine. My neice ordered the warm chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake arrived frozen, the surly manager poked it with his fingers once the busy waitress had said we wanted it changed as it was inedible. The waitresses were pleasant, the manager didn`t bother apologising for the frozen cake. Never again, the hot chocolate drink came in a glass without a handle to hold it with and the coffee was ferocious. Give this one a miss.

I don't think I like the Ask Italian chain at all. I have not been to one that I am happy with.

I had tried Ask restaurant before. I was never very impress with the food or the service. Very disappointed.
