June 1, 2009 We left home about 1330 for 1725 departure from Charlotte Douglas Airport and are waiting for boarding. Padre Ricardo and Laura and her Canadian friend Sandy are here. It is great to see some familiar faces. Our first time on Lufthansa. They accommodate different physical and food needs. Unlike US Air, Lufthansa serves liquor and juice and sodas and a great meal at no extra cost, even in second class. Our first picture is of the plane on it's way to Italy via Germany.

June 2, We arrive in Munich at 0810 on Flt. LH429 We got our passports stamped for the first time. After about a three hour wait we were off to depart for Milano at 1045. Munich is much a blur as we had no sleep for a day. Mostly just rested and quietly talked to each other. Picked up some newspapers from Munich for later reading or perusing.

Arrived in Milano at 1230 on Flt. Lufthansa 3900. Lufthansa serves a very nice boxed snack this flight. Lovely going over the Perinnes Mtns. between France, Spain and Italy.

Upon arrival in Milano Airport we saw no signs of people to greet us. Probably because we were first there as we had only carry-on luggage. I way-layed a young woman and asked if she was Joanne, our tour guide. But by her facial expression we knew she wasn't and I had to apologize, After a few more minutes we saw a young man named Daniele with a sign for Fr. Ricardo Sanchez which was our group. We then saw Laura and Sandy and Padre Ricardo and a woman named Joanne Keane and her husband Jim, the trip organizers. Daniele is to be our Italian tour guide with indivdual guides at each major city. After they counted heads they lead us to our orange and silver Orlando/Lucernini bus with Angelo as our excellent bus driver. These people were to be our constant companions/guides for the next nine days. We are very tired upon arrival at Milano.
