We didn't have much time to plan this cruise because it was literally booked just 3 weeks before departure, and no research was done concerning the cruise ship. We arrived at Southampton with ample time, and were directed to the appropriate queue ready to process our documentation. Everything was done efficiently, and within the hour we'd boarded. It was so much easier than battling to an airport and waiting for hours for your flight, and of course, no cases to haul around, they'd already been taken from us, and sent directly to our stateroom. We found our stateroom easily, and despite being an inside cabin, we were very happy with what we saw. A queen sized bed, lots of storage, and an adequate shower room. The use of mirrors made the room seem larger. The Ruby Princess had around 3000 passengers, and certainly seemed the largest cruise ship we'd been on to date. We decided to have a walk around the ship to get our bearings, and decided it was very similar to The Ventura which we'd been on previously to the Carribean! We'd opted for " anytime dining" so went to the restaurant for our evening meal. Unfortunately everyone else had had the same idea! We queued up, and half an hour we finally got a shared table. We found that you needed to get to the restaurant around 6 o clock, and be prepared to share a table, and this way, the wait was minimal. I must say, the food was excellent, with lots of choice, and by dining early, meant that you could go to the theatre and see the show, and also see musical events at different venues with ease. We loved the entertainment on board, such a variety with lots of choice to tempt everyone's taste. Our favourite eatery at lunchtime was in the atrium. Freshly prepared salads, with the most moreish prawns you've ever seen! Each day they made a different pie, which my husband loved. There was always live music too while you ate. A Bonus! Another plus for us with this ship was the huge outside screen on the lido deck. We used to watch films once the ship was sailing, wrapped up cosily in blankets, Norwegian hat, and drinking hot chocolate! We were even served popcorn and pizza! The film choice was really good, most of them we'd never seen before so that was great! We loved this Norwegian cruise, and travelled as far as The North Cape. The ship was very stable and at no point did I feel seasick! I would certainly recommend this ship, and look forward to future cruises with Princess!
