We live in Lincolnshire & decided to go on this Baltic Cities & St Petersburg Cruise because the departure from Hull was very convenient. We booked it through the Co-op Travel shop in Horncastle and they were very good at finding insurance because I had an operation for cancer & we were unable to find holiday insurance. We picked more passengers up at Rosyth but unfortunately we were not allowed to disembark here. Our first stop was Copenhagen(Denmark) & we had a trip on an open topped bus which had parked just outside our ship. The next port was Helsinki (Finland). Here a band was playing outside our ship to welcome us & shuttle buses took us into the city. Our next stop was for 2 days at St Petersburg(Russia). Here we booked a city panorama tour & a visit to the Hermitage & the Gold room. We were taken in mini buses with a Russian Guide & we were told that we were one of the first cruise ships of the season & we avoided queues & crowds of later months. In Tallinn (Estonia) we had shuttle buses to this beautiful city. Again at Stockholm (Sweden) we used shuttle buses. At Oslo we could walk into the city. The food on the Discovery was excellent. There was plenty of entertainment & activities, I made a set of jewellery, & knitted a fancy scarf. There were films to watch on a big screen & in your room. It was a fantastic wedding anniversary cruise & I was disappointed to hear that the Discovery was going to be decommissioned later this year.
