My wife and I joined the ship after a short flight and coach travel from Nice, the journey was very enjoyable and the Italian Côte d'Azur was spectacular. Arrived at Savona about 2 hours before sailing and very quickly we went through embarkation and went on board. The ship itself is recently refurbished and is very clean and the decor is very modern. Our cabin was on deck 8 and although an inside cabin was more than enough for both of us. There is a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and the first 2 drinks are free any after this incur a charge of £1.50 a pod. We had booked an all inclusive drinks package which covers, alcohol, coffe, bottled water, beer and wine. Very good value at £23.00 per person per day, but both persons in the cabin must purchase. At this point I must state that all drinks on board unless you have the drinks package carry a 15% vat . We freshened up and went on board for our departure which was very spectacular as we had never sailed from Savona before. The ship is very smooth and as there is only 600 passengers it seemed quite empty. We went down to the dining were it is anytime dining option between 6.30 pm and 10 pm. We were shown to our table and introduced to our waiters. Then we were given our fist menu, 6 course, with a choice of a fish or meat main course. The menus reflect the area were the vessel is and also the wines of the area, this means that the menus are never repeated during the cruise. The food was terrific for the whole cruise and really opened my eyes to Italian food and wines. The ship although 14 years old has been refurbished to a very high standard and has swimming pools, jacuzzis and a quite good gym. The entertainment is mainly in the theatre for about an hour every night, and as most of the cruisers are from Europe mainly consist of song and dance acts, but very well done. As to the ports we visited this ship varies from others in that you spend a lot more time in port, on average at least 12-15 hrs, plenty of time for good excursions without the rush of other cruise lines. At sea the ship is very leisurely and it gives one the impression of being aboard ones own ship. All in all I would heartily recommend this cruise to all people who want VFM, good food, good ports and leisurely sailing all combined with a terrific crew, good entertainers and that touch of Italian bravura.
