We booked this cruise, on a whim, at the last minute. The flight from Gatwick was on time and comfortable, best of all we checked our luggage in at Gatwick and next time we saw it was in our cabin. On arrival at Barbados, we stepped off the plane and straight into a minibus which took us directly to the ship (no queues, no customs, no immigration – brilliant). Having booked late and paid a discounted price for an inside lower deck cabin, we had no great expectations and we were astounded to find ourselves with a large outside cabin on deck nine (this was the best level to be on). We had actually been allocated a 'disabled' cabin which meant it was huge, especially the shower and toilet area. So far, we were really impressed, however, dinner was a disappointment. The food must have been the worst we have ever had on a cruise ship, it was completely edible but of a much lower quality, standard, taste and flavour than other cruise lines. A lot of the other passengers felt the same. To be fair, I have to say there was plenty of it and the buffets were well-stocked for 24 hours a day. The first day was spent at sea and all we could find were occupied or empty sunbeds, but with towels/books left on them. Not enough for all, so people were reserving them but not using them. The destinations were very good. We woke up to a different island every day and had a full day to spend in each place; this had been very well planned. A lot of different activities during the days at sea and varied shore excursions, although you could do taxi/minibus tours of the island for half the ship's price. The evening entertainment was very good. The showteam were excellent, extremely professional and well-rehearsed. The age group was mainly over 60's but we saw a very few families and young couples plus couples in the 40-60 age group. Internet access was offered on the ship but most people used their phones, laptops, tablets on shore where there was often free Wi-Fi.
