I’d never cruised before and for some reason thought it would not be for me. Then I just had to book when I saw all my desired destinations in the Mediterranean on one cruise and on offer with Just You. I am a solo traveller and this is a company I have used before and been pleased with. And the cruise ship offers something new in the industry – a special zone of cabins for solo travellers with a separate lounge if you want to meet up, have a coffee, compare notes on excursions etc. The cruise was a delight. It was on the Epic, a new ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet. Some seasoned travellers considered it too big but I didn’t. Once I’d learned the direction of fore and aft , I was fine. And they give you a little Pocket Guide anyway. I had a good explore of some of the huge number of facilities whilst we had our first 24 hours at sea. Then we started our programme of stops and excursions. There were excursions to suit everyone's interests and mobility. I had done some research and booked my favourites beforehand. Then I booked more onboard. All very easy to do. I saw so many places and with no need to pack/unpack. Their excursions operation was slick and friendly. At Naples you can just walk off the ship and there you are in the town. At Cannes you go in by Tender Boat – a treat in itself. The crew were great wherever you were – on the tender boats, at mealtimes, at the shows, in your cabin, enjoying coffee in a lounge, sipping cocktails in the Ice Bar. We were 4,000 passengers on board and yet we got individual attention. Have to mention somewhere – their hygiene and infection control was discreet but thorough. NCL do freestyle dining and there was a wide selection of restaurants to try. Some of the specialist cuisine restaurants had a small “entry charge”; others did not, and the food was great quality wherever you ate. You could have dinner with waiter (and sometimes piano) or you could do buffet. Whatever you felt like doing at that moment. And whenever. You could dress up, or you could just go there. That’s the joy of freestyle dining. I will be booking another cruise and probably on The Epic.

Interesting to read your comments about NCL - we have been on several cruises with different lines but never with NCL. Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed it.
