Our flight to Corfu went well and Thomson ensured the short transfer was efficient as usual.

Having travelled ont he Spirit last year, we knew what to expect, so were quite satisfied with our adequate low deck outside cabin which was maintained well throughout.

Tip for the port – buy bottled water at the port shop before you set sail. Its' very cheap.

Loved all the ports of call except that there was not much to see in Koper. We had planned an excursion to the Lippizaner stud at Lipica but this was not on offer after all, so we just enjoyed a quiet day and lunch in the impressive square.

In Venice, we went out to Murano ( glass factory fascinating) and the beautiful Burano with its coloured houses as we'd been to Venice befoer. I'd reccommend the latter for a stunning and quieter exploration and you get to experience travel on the "water highwways" of the lagoon just like the Venetians do ( easy flat walking too).

Dubrovnik was wonderful but yo need to be fit to not only walk the walls, but to climb up to them in the first place – well worth it though and one really felt the ages of history. In some places one had to go down a little way only to climb up again. No problem to us, but may be to some people with dodgy knees!

Split was a revelation – do either take a guided walk first or get information to appreciate what is really going on here architectually as it's a gem, especially Diocletian's palace.

Kotor, Montenegro was a wonderful port in Europe's most southerly fjiord. We climbed high above the port to a ittle church and you could go even higher. Spectacular views abounded – again not for the unfit, but they had excursions available with little walkiing in all the ports. Such a shame this port has been dropped this year, but it may appear on other cruises.

Back in Corfu we were able to take a scenic and informative island tour before our late flight home, os that was another bonus. It also led us to think we wouldnt' mind spending some time on the lush green island, so maybe another time we could stay there pre or post cruise. We were also taken with the towns on the Adriatic coast and woudl like to stay longer there too. Travelling along the coast on the sea day provided a much nicer outlook than just sea as well.

One is never goign to get luxurious surroundings with Thomson, but they are well organised, good value for money and their entertainment is second to none. The food was also enjoyable and to British taste with a few more exotic dishes for those who wanted them.

Actuallly I could happily do the same cruise again and just go on different walks or excursions, so that must be the best recommendation of all!
