The holiday started when I locked our front door and climbed aboard our SAGA provided transport (all included in the price) to Southampton Cruise Centre. For those who have never cruised with SAGA this is only one of the included benefits. To this can be added Included insurance, tips, free courtesy buses at ports, free water on excursions, continually filled fruit basket in cabin and an attention to detail second to none. Other cruises we have been on with other companies do not compare. After being shown to our cabin by very attentive staff and having settled in it was time to explore the ship. This was one of SAGA's ships we had not travelled on before. A buffet lunch was laid on and for those of us who had travelled a long way before boarding this was especially welcome. Our cruise took us to Madeira, La Palma, Gran Canaria, Lanzarotte, Teneriffe, Agidir, Casablanca and Lisbon. We were also able to take one paid for excursion at each port. Unfortunately time did not allow for any more but the tours we did take were reasonably priced and well organised and the local guides were very good with one or two extremely good, particularly in Agidir. Each tour was carefully graded regards walking distances, steps, etc., and it was very clear that, if one was disabled, as to the best options for you. Highlights included camel riding and the visit to the biggest and best stocked Souk we have ever seen. The boat itself was very well equipped for the disabled and on this trip walkers were very much in evidence. Remember SAGA cruises are designed for the over 50's. I cannot praise the staff (from cabin steward, to waiters to bar staff and many others) enough for the cheerful disposition, their attentiveness to the needs of passengers and their general helpfulness. It truly is a very happy ship. One frustrating item I do have is that although internet access is available at all times the one thing that would be very helpful would be WiFi access via personal laptops, etc. The dining experience was of the very best. Menu's were varied and well prepared and the options available were very good with both vegetarians, diabetics and those with gluten free requirements were well catered for. Seating was 'open' and it was good to meet up with different people each day. Various activities, lectures, etc., were laid on and were well attended and very well run. After a very enjoyable and relaxing cruise we were met again at Southampton and driven home. A door to door experience we will definitely recommend.
