The first thing to say is that this is a beautiful ship. We never tired of seeing it from the shore or indeed on deck. Seeing it docked alongside some massive (lovely I'm sure but boxy) ships, there was a sense of pride that the Star Clipper (  was our ship (my wife quickly started called the ship she). So what's good: The crew are very attentive, accessible & friendly. Being a small ship (max 170 guests) they quickly got to know you & your preferences. Apart from greeting us in the corridor from time to time our cabin boy was like a ghost, keeping our cabin spotless but never seeing him go in it. The food is amazing, variety, quality, well presented, expertly served. We got to know many of the guests & didn't hear anything but praise for the food, not a murmur of any tummy upsets. The ship was always spotless & spent about a third of its time under sail rather than using the engines. Under sail was magical, like skipping along under the clear blue sky. It was great to get the opportunity to climb the rigging & the staff are very safety conscious. All the places we visited were interesting in there own way, accepting that this was a cruise around some smaller islands, so attractions on each island very obviously limited. The best thing about the week was that you got to know the other guests quickly on such a small ship, so we got to spend some time with some really lovely & interesting people. Things to bear in mind: The cabins are understandably small on a ship of this size. There was little information provided on each port, so do your homework before you go. You do get to feel the roll/waves albeit mostly its quite gentle, but these ships are not stabilised to the same extent as the very large ones, I thought it was great though. Deck space for sunbathing is limited on at sea days. Evening entertainment is limited, clearly not in the class of the big ships. We would totally recommend this ship.

No doubt the deck area is a little smaller than on a larger ship and the loungers are placed at most available spaces to maximise their availability. There was a large canopy erected at the aft of the ship to provide as much shade as possible, so most people who wanted shade seemed to be able to get it.

Have admired these beautiful ships, on several occasions when we've been on a cruise on a slightly larger cruise ship! Maybe the deck area is a little small, and possibly not a lot of shade when the sun is at its hottest? Have tried a gullet holiday in Turkey though.
