My husband and I were looking for a short break and after having enjoyed two previous cruises with Azamara, decided to book a 4 night cruise on the Azamara Journey which included a visit to Monaco on the day of the Grand Prix. After spending a couple of nights in Nice we were able to walk round to the Port from our hotel and board the ship late morning. We felt we were 'coming home'. We had cruised on the same ship for 12 nights in the Caribbean in March of this year with other family members and we were welcomed as old friends by some of the crew who had also been on board during that cruise. We were in nearly the same balcony cabin and were delighted to be reunited with our room steward who immediately asked after the family and wanted to be remembered to them.

The cruise was a delight, calling at Portofino, St Tropez and Monaco, where the ship moored overnight. We were fortunate to be moored close to Monaco and had a good view of the town from our balcony. Whilst we did not actually buy tickets for the race, we walked around the town in the morning and soaked up the atmosphere with the noise of the pre-Grand Prix races echoing around the streets.

The ship, as usual, lived up to our expectations. Our first experience of Azamara was the 14 night Best of Italy cruise on the Quest. On all three cruises we have taken the food was to a very high standard throughout; our favourite dining venue being the speciality Aquilina restaurant for which there is now a $15 surcharge unless you are a suite guest, in which case it is complimentary.

Our cabin was comfortable and kept very clean, with soft drinks replenished in the mini-bar and ice regularly replaced.

The sun loungers on the pool deck are very comfortable and have thick padded cushions covered with a fitted sheet. Service is very good with unobtrusive bar staff circulating ready to take your order, even for soft drinks which are complimentary throughout the cruise, as is wine with lunch and dinner in all restaurants.

We cannot comment on the entertainment as we rarely attended evening shows onboard but we did take part in a few of the quizzes before dinner in the Mosaic Cafe, another of our favourite venues on the ship for coffee, snacks and cocktails.

We have not taken any ship's tours, preferring to organise our own in ports of call where this is practical, so also cannot comment on those.

Finally, the crew are all very friendly and the service excellent. We would have no hesitation in booking another cruise with Azamara, indeed there are so many good itineraries it is difficult to choose between them!
