Whilst the Cotswolds are unique and charming with glorious scenery all around you that you so wish that you could package it and take it home with you – we chose to stop off at Bourton-on-the-water. What a delight!!

Sitting alongside the river bank watching the swans and ducks glide by whilst savouring a delightful cream tea was just heavenly.

A very popular place for tourists – I lost count of the many coach arrivals off loading their passengers for an hour or two. I encountered many nationalities. American, Canadian and unsurprisingly many many Japaneese with all their uptodate technology capturing every single minute of their visit. They simply captured anything and everything. Amongst the proverbial gift shops – we discovered a motor museum complete with a topiary car at the front of the museum and whilst going back in time looking at the cars of old – you simply lose track of time because the way everything is presented you become so absorbed in the history. The weather really wasn't on our side when we chose to visit so many of our planned explorations did not materialise so we have pledged to return in 2014.

Glad you enjoyed Bourton. I lived nearby when I was a child. It has become so much more touristy now. I like The Slaughters nearby, still the river, but smaller.
