We decided to go back to Jersey after being there when our children were young. We stayed in the Hotel du France, and hired a car at the airport. Finding the hotel was a nightmare, as St. Helier is a maze of one way streets. We really seemed to go round and round in circles. The hotel was very nice, but you couldn't walk anywhere around it as it's on a steep hilly area. Every time we drove to the town centre we were unable to park. It was so frustrating. We found out after two days that scratch cards can be bought in certain shops which allow you to park. These cards are used at all the beach resorts. It would have been helpful if the hotel staff could have told us this, and perhaps had the cards to sell. Although the island is pretty and has nice restaurants, we won;t be going again. The parking situation does not take into account that visitors have no idea how it works.
