In 2012 my husband and myself decided we would go on an adventure late in life. I know but we are reasonably fit, enjoy walking and love the Greek Islands, we have visited many but always used a holiday company. This was to be our first trip booking, everything from flights, ferries, buses, overnight stay in Athens and hotel on the islands. Must admit I was nervous as Greece is known for there strikes on ferries etc.. This turned out to be the best holiday we had ever had. Sifnos in the Cyclades has many treasures. We stayed in the port of Kameres at a little hotel named Stavros, owned by a family and run by their son and his English wife Sarah. It was excellent the amazing view which you all have at Stavros hotel. The buses in Kameres were also very good. Kastro was our favourite place steeped in history, wonderful friendly people. We got lots of walking in round Apollonia another village nearby. I can recommend if you love Greece and enjoy travelling. Give it a try. Forget the travel companyies, do it yourself. There are lots of people out there on travel sites who are willing to help. We found a guy named Matt Barrett who lives in America but is of Greek origin, he is amazing very helpful. Also the Lonely Planet another travel site with excellent help from people all over the world. We're hooked now just booking another trip, our destination Foligandros.

What a lovely holiday. I have not been to Greece for over 20 years. Always love to go back there.
