I travelled to London via Virgin Trains on Saturday morning, from Manchester to Euston, in just over 2 hours. What a journey, so smooth and the staff on board were extremely friendly and efficient. I stayed at the Travel Lodge in Covent Garden. whilst the booking-in procedure wasn't the best in the world, the staff went over backwards to accommodate me. The room was pretty basic but extremely clean and comfortable. the breakfast was really good and plentiful – I could have gone all day without eating again. I went to see the Billy Elliot show which I had mixed feelings about. Whilst the show was performed extremely well, I'm not too sure about the foul language used, especially by and in front of young children. On Sunday, I went to see Lionel Richie at the O2 and travelled by the River Clipper Express. I really enjoyed this experience and was really good value for money. Coming home by Virgin trains again on Monday afternoon, the journey was a bit of a disaster because someone went underneath the train – I'm still not sure whether it was a suicide or if they tried to get across the track at a crossing. whichever way, the poor sole didn't make it. However, every single member of the Virgin staff were magnificent, they could do enough for all of the passengers. It's a dam good job Virgin still has the contract. Well done Richard Branson.
