Wimborne is a small town local to us and we often visit. There is an independent cinema and a lovingly restored theatre which has interesting shows and films. The Blues Band is one of our favourite bands and they always do a concert there just before Christmas. Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) is superb on the harmonica. They also have people like Joe Brown, Alan Price and others of our era. The town itself is a nice place to spend the day. You can park economically, easily walk around. The shops are small and there a lot of independent traders. Friday sees a market just on the edge of town, it is not marvellous, but it is good if you like routing through bric-a-brac. There is one good stall for fruit and veg which has very competitive prices. There are lots of tea rooms, cafes and restaurants. You really are spoilt for choice. There is a very nice river running through the middle of town and you can walk along it to a nearby craft centre called Walford Mill. The Allendale Centre is a local meeting point and they have a regular country market on Friday at 9.30 run by W I members. Lots of plants, home made goods, eggs and veg. Well worth visiting but you have to get there early or everything goes very quickly. The National Trust property of Kingston Lacey is just a mile or so out of town.
