We were travelling to Cheshire for the Tatton Flower Show and decided to stay for a few days in Stratford on the way. We booked into a nice 4* hotel The Stratford which is within easy walking distance of the town and sights. The hotel was extremely comfortable and good value. We had tried to book theatre tickets for the RSC but nothing was available so we were advised to try for returns early on the day of the performance. We queued at the door for 10.00am box office opening and were lucky to get best seats for a performance of Twelfth Night. This proved to be a memorable experience. The RSC theatre is a beautiful building and the performance was wonderful and had the audience on its feet for a standing ovation. Stratford is a pretty town with the river running through its heart and lots of nice restaurants and cafes as well as a good selection of shops including smaller shops and boutiques, as well as some of the big chains. Lots of things to do and see for a short break and well worth a visit.
