My husband and I decided after much family illness, that we both should take a break to just rest and recharge our batteries. We chose Sorrento in Italy as we had never visited that area before. On arrival we were shown to our room which had a balcony overlooking the beautiful Bay of Naples, going through my head was the lovely restful time we would have, lazing around the pool, soaking up the calmness and beautiful scenery. WRONG, We were so taken up with the surrounding areas of interest, one being The Isle of Capri, that we decided to have a look around, we took a scooter around the whole island of Capri, bringing back memories of our youth on an old Lamberetter, then a day visiting Pompeii on the 'on time' railway, which had a novel type of air con, called open windows!!, another trip by hire car this was a Smart Car cabriolet, we travelled around Amalfi coast, then up into the mountains following the twists and turns of the steep roads. Lunch was a family run bar which gave us the most flavoursome lunch of home grown produce, Pancetta Ham, vine tomatoes, home made Mozerella, and wine with grapes from the garden. Our last day was spent relaxing in the hotel, packing cases for our return, This supposedly relaxing time turn into the most interesting and beautiful country and people, Highly recommended.

You sound like you enjoy lots of action on your holidays! We are the same! When we visited Capri a few years ago, we enjoyed going up the chairlift in Capri. The views at the top were amazing, well worth the trip.
